چکیده

Cross sections and thermal rate coefficients are computed for electron-impact dissociative recombination vibrational excitation/de-excitation of the N$^+_2$ molecular ion in its lowest six levels, collision energies/temperatures up to 2.3 eV/5000 K.

Anisotropic fragmentation in low-energy dissociative recombination

On a dense energy grid reaching up to 75 meV electron collision energy the fragmentation angle and the kinetic energy release of neutral dissociative recombination fragments have been studied in a twin merged beam experiment. The anisotropy described by Legendre polynomials and the extracted rotational state contributions were found to vary on a likewise narrow energy scale as the rotationally ...

The vibrational dependence of dissociative recombination: cross sections for N2+.

Theoretical ab initio calculations are reported of the cross sections for dissociative recombination of the lowest four excited vibrational levels of N2(+) at electron energies from 0.001 to 1.0 eV. Rydberg vibrational levels contributing to the cross section structures are identified as are dissociative channels contributing more than 10(-16) cm(2) to the total cross sections. In contrast to t...

Low-energy electron collisions with CH3Br: the dependence of elastic scattering, vibrational excitation, and dissociative attachment on the initial vibrational energy

Using the laser photoelectron attachment (LPA) method at an energy width of 1–2 meV, the Br− yield due to dissociative electron attachment to the molecule CH3Br has been measured over the energy range 1–180 meV at a gas temperature of 600 K. The data clearly exhibit the vibrational Feshbach resonance predicted by Wilde et al. (2000 J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. 33 5479) and associated with th...

Inelastic low-energy collisions of electrons with HeH+: Rovibrational excitation and dissociative recombination.

Inelastic low-energy (0-1 eV) collisions of electrons with HeH+ cations are treated theoretically, with a focus on the rovibrational excitation and dissociative recombination (DR) channels. In an application of ab initio multichannel quantum defect theory, the description of both processes is based on the Born-Oppenheimer quantum defects. The quantum defects were determined using the R-matrix a...

Low-energy electron attachment to 5'-thymidine monophosphate: modeling single strand breaks through dissociative electron attachment.

Mechanisms of low-energy electron (LEE) attachment and subsequent single-strand break (SSB) formation are investigated by density functional theory treatment of a simple model for DNA, i.e., the nucleotide, 5'-thymidine monophosphate (5'-dTMPH). In the present study, the C5'-O5' bond dissociation due to LEE attachment has been followed along the adiabatic as well as on the vertical (electron at...
